All providers at the Pennsylvania Hand Center are actively involved in continuing medical education, research and publication. Many of the papers are also presented at national meetings by Hand Surgeons and therapists. Dr. Wehbé is a Professor, and Dr. Rosenfeld is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Jefferson Medical College. They teach orthopaedic residents, medical students and pre-med students. We are also affiliated with area therapy schools and help educate their students on rotation.
Teaching conferences are held on a weekly basis, for the residents, therapists and general staff. Patient conferences are also held on a weekly basis, to discuss difficult cases and adjust treatment protocols.
In addition to their teaching duties, our Doctors and Hand Therapists are constantly involved in research projects, aimed at advancing the diagnosis and treatment of hand, wrist and upper extremity problems. Many of their findings have already been published in medical journals and books.
On-going research continues to address various disorders and methods of treatment, and will be published at the completion of each study. Recently published are studies about treatment of thumb arthritis and joint replacement around the wrist.
